Targeted Research Program

THIS COMPETITION IS CURRENTLY CLOSED

The program supports rapidly emerging, vital food and bio-materials research projects that can be conducted within 1 year and have strong potential for discoveries that substantially contribute to the socio-economic benefit of Canadians. Research projects must address emerging issues whose competitive advantage would be lost if conventional funding procedures were followed. Topics for the Targeted Research Program will be identified after consultation with AFMNet s Board of Directors, International Scientific Advisory Committee and Research Management Committee.

• Projects should address the AFMNet identified area of research
• In selecting projects for approval, AFMNet will give top priority to those projects which are highly translational
• Projects should have the potential to lead to new products and services and as well address legal, policy and social acceptance issues resulting from the use of new technologies in improving the health and well being of Canadians.
• All projects must demonstrate multidisciplinary collaborations, training of HQP (undergraduate, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research technicians/associates, visiting scientists), and place an emphasis on partnerships and the engagement of external stakeholders.
• Projects must be focused and goal driven which generates solutions that will be implemented to produce social and economic benefits for Canadians.
