Harold Aukema obtained his PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph, received his postdoctoral training at Texas A & M University and currently is at the University of Manitoba. His current research interests include the following: 1) Nutrition and the kidney: Effects of dietary components, nutraceuticals and functional foods on normal renal metabolism and in the early stages of renal disease progression. 2) Nutrition and intracellular signal transduction in the kidney: Effects of dietary components which alter renal physiology and disease progression on intracellular signalling pathways in the kidney. 3) Effects of high protein diets on renal and bone health. 4) Renal eicosanoid metabolism: effects of diet on the production of prostaglandins and thromboxanes in the kidney in health and disease.
