R2B Program
AFMNet's Research to Business Program (R2B) aids and encourages knowledge transfer and the commercialization of Canadian science. R2B is working to build awareness of the need for academia to boost commercialization efforts for social benefit through a 2 phase program. Phase I is a series of outreach workshops at universities across Canada where professors and their HQP learn, first hand, the fundamentals of commercialization and how to avoid the pit falls. Phase II is follow up one–on–one support and access to tools and resources for academic researchers and students working to commercialize their research and technologies. By the end of three years, the program aims to increase the pursuit of commercialization activities; challenge barriers to commercialization, increase profile of University Industry Liaison Offices and commercialization activities at Canadian Universities; boost investment in commercialization; and increase the return on investment in Canadian academic research. When and Where: Our first series of workshops were completed in January 2006. Check back soon for future R2B programming coming to a University near you.
