AFMNet Graphic Standards Guide
INTRODUCTIONA Message from Dr. Rickey Yada Scientific Director Advanced Foods and Materials Network AFMNet's logo and slogan were launched in November 2005 as a means of strengthening our identity and distinguishing us from Canada's other Networks of Centres of Excellence - all clamouring for recognition, personnel, equipment, and of course, funding. The power of a visual identity is clear: the Nike "swoosh", the McDonald's "golden arches", and the Coca-Cola logo are instantly recognizable, right down to the exact colours they use. Frequent and consistent use of our logo and slogan will help AFMNet to be as recognizable to our peers and partners I hope you will incorporate our visual identity into all of your communications pieces, from stationery and business cards to PowerPoint presentations and email "signatures". A strong, easy-to-recognize identity wlll help us garner support for our work, which affects the lives of all Canadians.

OUR LOGOThe design reflects the relationship between the ground and new ideas. It represents the collaboration that is fundamental to effect change. The logo simultaneously conveys hard science and human endeavour, in a pleasingly organic way. OUR SLOGAN"Inspiration from the groud up" conveys the groundwork of our research, the generation of new ideas and the positive momentum of our network. Together we inspire change, foster collaboration between private and public sector partners, and create new applications for the natural riches Canada has in store.
