The Advanced Foods and Materials Network (AFMNet) hosted its Fourth Annual Scientific Conference in Vancouver – Saturday, May 31 to Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008 and we are happy to report that it was a great success!

  • Conference registration reached 166 for 2008, with an additional 30 industry attendees on Monday's Bio–Partnering Day!
  • The 4–day event included presentations of all 25 AFMNet Projects, involved over 100 meetings between network researchers and industry representatives, showcased research via 57 poster competition entries, incorporated a fun team compass challenge through the streets of downtown Vancouver and provided lots of time for networking and knowledge exchange.
  • We also secured sponsorship support from more external companies than ever: Avrio Ventures Management Corporation; General Mills; Canadian Medical Association; U. of Toronto's Program in Food Safety, Nutrition and Regulatory Affairs; Dow AgroSciences Canada Inc.; Canadian Light Source Inc. and; Taiyo Kagaku Co., Ltd., proving confidence in and the strengthening of our industry partnerships.
