AFMNet's Annual Scientific Conference

The Advanced Foods and Materials Network (AFMNet) hosted its Third Annual Scientific Conference in Quebec City, Quebec last spring - Sunday, June 3rd to Tuesday, June 5th, 2007 at Chateau Bonne Entent and we are happy to report that it was a great success!

  • Our conference received national coverage in 40 daily newspapers (e.g. Edmonton Sun, Halifax Daily News, Hamilton Spectator, London Free Press, National Post, Ottawa Citizen, Saskatoon Star-Phoenix, Toronto Star, Toronto Sun and Waterloo Record); 13 on-line media sites (e.g., AOL.com, Canada.com, CBC.ca, CTV.ca); 3 radio programs (CBC Radio Ontario, Toronto and Quebec); 2 Publications (L'Actualite Medicale and Quebec Science) and 1 television program (Business News Network). The combined media coverage had an audience reach of more than 8.4 million people.
  • We were successful in attracting sponsorship funding from external companies: Canadian Light Source Inc.; Taiyo Kagaku Co., Ltd.; U. Toronto's Program in Food Safety, Nutrition and Regulatory Affairs; Alberta Agricultural Research Institute and Contact Canada Publishing providing over $10K in support, proving confidence in and the strengthening of our industry partnerships.
  • Conference registration reached 175 registered participants in 2007, up from 120 in 2006 and 90 in 2005, with representatives from industry, the government, the media and brilliant research minds from across Canada!

AFMNet's 4th Annual Scientific Conference is being held in Vancouver, B.C. and will include 4-days (versus the previous 3) of research sharing, team building, learning and networking.

The full program and online registration will be available sometime in October so check back often and we'll see you in Vancouver!
