Canada's Food and Bio-Materials Network
The Advanced Foods and Materials Network (AFMNet) is Canada's only research network that focuses on foods and bio-materials and is unique globally in its breadth of researchers and infrastructure. Since 2003, AFMNet has positioned itself as a leader and funder of agri-food research and innovation, creating a national network of researchers, industry professionals and government agencies. Its' multidisciplinary approach has brought together researchers and partners who have not traditionally collaborated in the past, sparking novel solutions to problems and challenges identified by industry, government, non-governmental organizations and/or the public while our emphasis on partnerships maximizes the efficient use of facilities, technology and staff. Our Vision: AFMNet will be Canada's foremost network for bio-materials and food-for-health solutions. Our Mission: To conduct and facilitate multidisciplinary research to develop transformative foods and bio-materials. AFMNet is Canada's pre-eminent organization in advanced foods and bio-materials research. The Network has established an infrastructure that has started and will continue to produce commercially viable, socially acceptable, valued-added products and processes for the benefit of all Canadians. AFMNet will provide synergistic and multidisciplinary products and technologies by bringing together a diverse but complementary group of researchers from the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities and law and connecting them with industry to improve the health, economic and social well being of Canadians, consistent with the mandate of the Networks of Centres of Excellence:
